Allium schubertii

These wonderful alliums always draw exclamations from visitors while they are in bloom! HUGE open clusters to 12” across explode on one foot stems in late May, looking like a rose purple fireworks event! Long after the flowers fade, the dried remains resemble intriguing sculptural elements in the garden or in the vase… we like to hit them with a poof of colorful spray paint for fun!
